Road Traffic News

17.02.2023

We have received the following from Amey Roads Consulting.

"This is a notification regarding a change of traffic management arrangements for the construction of Active Travel improvements adjacent to the A77 northbound carriageway between the Symington and Bogend Toll grade separated junctions.

The revised works are scheduled from Thursday 23rd February 2023 until Friday 3rd March 2023 and will require the closure of the northbound slip roads at the Bogend Toll junction from 9.30am to 3.30pm each weekday. The closure of the junction is to allow the safe construction of the upgraded active travel route adjacent to the side road. The work will also continue to be carried out using nearside lane closures of the A77 northbound carriageway between the Bogend Toll and Symington junctions.

During the above times, signed diversion routes will be in place as listed below :

  • Northbound off slip diversion: northbound traffic will be diverted north on the A77 to Bellfield Interchange where they will leave the A77 and take the 6th exit at the roundabout onto the A77 southbound. Traffic will then be diverted south on the A77 to the southbound off slip at the Bogend Toll junction where they will leave the A77 onto Tarbolton Road. At the roundabout, traffic will take the 3rd exit onto the B730 where the diversion will end.

  • Northbound on slip diversion: at the roundabout west of the A77 at the Bogend Toll junction, traffic will be diverted to cross over the A77 via the B730 overbridge. At the roundabout traffic will take the 1st exit onto Tarbolton Road and then join the A77 southbound. Traffic will then be diverted south on the A77 to Dutch House Roundabout where they will take the 4th exit onto the A77 northbound where the diversion will end."

The head of Ayrshire Roads Alliance, Mr Kevin Braidwood, is aware of the issues and continues to liaise with the Community Council.

ARA are in the process of finalising their proposals for traffic calming measures within the village. When completed, they will bring them to a Community Council meeting to be discussed and agreed.

Once this stage of the process is complete, they are required to carry out a formal consultation with South Ayrshire Council.

When agreed work will commence.

We will post updates as we become aware of them.
